Microsoft WTF to a whole new level...

  • No, its not windows, no its not even MS Office, hell it aint even hotmail or windows live search...

    Here

Watch the video on the bottom of the page. The new MS marketing attempt at selling vista.

After seeing it please explain how this relates to marketing vista. For extra brownie points, please tell me what the funny parts are, because I must have missed them.

  •  Oh, no.   Not another one.  I've seen the shoe store one a few times, and each time it makes me long for death.  Not my own, of course.

  •  They are SOOOOO desperate to try and counter those Mac commercials.  Old Gates is trying anything, and apparently is directing his own commercials.  For fucks sake, can't he afford a descent director with all that damn money?  You would think they would have the BEST commercials with all the money they can throw at it.

  • Maybe it's just me, but if MS threw their advertising budget into making the software actually work the way people want it to work, they wouldn't need to advertise it as we'd all be clamboring for it.

In what way is their software not working the way the vast majority of the market wants?

  • Can we move this to Funny Stuff?  It's obviously not a WTF and even if you don't care for it, this is clearly just another lolcats video.

[citation given] And that isn't the only thing: all that weird DRM stuff they put in, some really strange wifi problems (including my dad's laptop, and another friend's laptop also failed yesterday)... my dad put his laptop in dual boot XP/Vista just to get some work done, and he loved Vista!

My dad isn't the kind of power user that would do something as "l33t" as having a dual-boot laptop, but Vista's issues were big enough for him to do it. Its really sad, there are some actual improvements on Vista (like UAC) which I do like, but all the other nonsense is just taking away from the "experience".

It really, really looks like Vista is turning up to be "the new Windows ME", except ME actually was a stop-gap OS, not an actual "big" release.

  • I found this video enjoyable.

    Also: moved.

Morbius, just stop posting, its easier to ignore you that way.

Moved, why? This is not humor, this is a WTF on Microsoft part. Who in their right mind uses THIS to market Vista?

It may be stupid, but you're talking about it, aren't you?  A lot of advertising is on the basis that there's no such thing as bad publicity.

I actually liked the shoe store commercial.  Especially seeing Bill shake his stuff (in HD no less).  The fact that everybody hated it pretty much makes it awesome.
