Betterwhois. Whois of SATAN

  •

Betterwhois - serving your Satanic needs since 2000bc

  • Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick, people.  The number of the beast most likely refers to the anti-Christ or a person who lived in biblical times, not Satan.  That's twice in one day.  This is completely unacceptable.  Also, 6666 is not the number of the beast.  It's the number of the beast times ten, plus six.  A lot of 6's don't make it evil.

  • This thread is completely stupid, but check out the thread ID: 9999.

    Spooky.

Ahh, it is not our traditional 666, but our good old Jewish ancestors would disagree with you.

    God is 7

Satan is 6, always one short of God

    Man is 5

"Well if 6 is evil, isn't 666 three times as evil?"  According to the ancient Jews: yes.

We today know better.  666 is eleventy-one times as evil.

Actually, 6 is man.  Or more correctly, the mundane, coming up just short of the divine 7.  This is what happens when you get your numerology training from a Pixies song.

The number of the beast isn't in the Hebrew Bible.  It's located in the Book of Revelation.

It wasn't a part of the Jewish Bible, you're right, but a part of Jewish mysticism, Kaballah, secret magic rites, etc.  It was well enough known by the time of Christ that it made it into Revelation.

I'm not especially up on Kabbalah, but I don't know of any link between it and 666.  It's modern infamy is directly related to its appearance in the Book of Revelation. The two major schools of thought are that the number of the beast, as used in Revelation, represents the anti-Christ in a way that has been lost over time, or that it was simply a numerical code to refer to a contemporary figure, with Nero being the leading candidate (or Caligula, if the number was actually 616, which is yet another kettle of fish).

I think you are making a blithe assumption here: The Bloodhound Gang most likely received inadequate numerology tutelage from the Pixies, but we have no proof TooWhiteAndNerdy did.  All I can conclude is that he is self-taught from a flawed text provided to him by Jimmy Pop.

I think it's clear that while he was first introduced to numerology through the collected works of Pop, Jimmy et al, his formal training was at the Pixies Institute of Flawed Numerology, from which he graduated with distinction; catching the eye of Black Francis, who later became his faculty advisor during his PhD candidacy, and for a brief time, lover.  However, when under great stress -- such as the stress of being so terribly wrong -- his carefully constructed visage as an award-winning flawed numerologist collapses, exposing the rough-hewn, street-wise numerologist of his youth.

Eh. Say what you want. It probably has something to do with lawyering like morbius said.

I asked my professor once (I took a class on Religion and Magic -- failed the lab portion) where the 666 came from, and he mentioned the "well if 6 is evil, then 666 is three times as evil."  I can't find any references on it, but I'm too lazy to look.

What, did you fail to summon a demon?

Or did you successfully summon the demon only to use the wrong name to bind it, resulting in your terrified classmates breaking the protective circle and being slaughtered en masse, with the demon claiming the soul of a young girl as his payment, dragging you both to Hell where you crack under the torment and make a desperate, feeble attempt to save yourself and the girl, failing at the latter and leaving the girl consigned to Hell where she would become the consort of the demon, the guilt driving you into a mental institution for years and leaving you a broken man sworn to vengeance against the nameless demon?

  •  Wasn't the actual number of the beast 616 ?

I'll probably think it was faked anyway, but It'd be nice to have a doubt it might have been a cool bit of luck.

How's it possible to fake a thread id? Never heard of that. Also, I saw IDs like 9995 lately. So it's probably no fake.

Short answer: "Yes", with an "if".  Long answer: "No", with a "but".

Happens more often than you'd think. Whose brilliant idea was it to make the bind names case-sensitive?

That's one afternoon I'm not going to forget in a hurry.

Well then why didn't they make the number 66666666?  That'd be eight times as evil!  Your professor's answer sounds rather flippant to me, not the sort of thing to put any stock in.  I have never seen any reference to 6 being Satan that didn't come from some hideous Geocities site with red text on a black background and animated GIFs of flames.

Theoretically, he could have been holding onto this story, waiting until he saw the existing thread IDs approach this number. Once he saw 9998 posted, he could have then posted this and just hoped no one else hit the button before he did.

But no one here would be that insane.

  • I suppose it didn't help that I was doing a whois on churchofsatan.com, but how the hell else am I supposed to find a number to call to see if I'm supposed to bring desert or drinks to the pot luck?  Really... The newsletter is frankly crap and what the hell kind of system is:

Bring treats based on your cardinal sin of choice:

    Lust: Sodas
    Gluttony: Dessert
    Greed: Main Course
    Sloth: Chips
    Wrath: Virgin blood
    Envy: Sacrificial goat
    Pride: Dip (for the chips!)

I personally lust after dessert so WTF am I supposed to bring?

Anyhow - I did not fake it, nor wait till I was almost at 9999.  I did, once get the captcha PEDERAST from TLC.com when voting for Vern on Trading Spaces.  That creeped me out.

That's the idea, yeah. After all, the only content in the OP was a number, which the thread id is an exact reflection of. I'd bet someone being that insane/devoted/whatever would be much more likely than whatever the chances of that being a coincidence.

Some people get devoted to some pretty strange things.

    Oh well.

My understanding is that Hebrew used repeated adjectives to denote superlatives. So "Evil" is just evil, "Evil Evil" is more evil, and "Evil Evil Evil" is the most evil.

Note: I can cite no references for this; I might have just made it up.

I've no idea. But even so, I don't know why that should matter. Why can't it be "Evil Evil Evil Evil Evil Evil Evil Evil"? Also, 666 as used in the Book of Revelation is actually written in the Greek sources as "six-hundred, sixty-six," not "six six six," which, in light of no Hebrew evidence to the contrary, gives further credence to it being a numerical value and not repetition for emphasis.

I think the 6 6 6 mythos stemmed from The Omen, where someone explains it was something like the anti-Trinity (Satan, Antichrist, false prophet) and it stuck in popular culture.

I don't remember much from The Omen anymore, but what you're describing is the Unholy Trinity, a construct discussed mostly by Futurists, which is to say those that believe the End Times are coming (and usually very soon).  It's possible that some Futurist school holds 666 to imply the Unholy Trinity.  Who knows?  The Book of Revelation is interpreted a lot of different ways, each one weirder than the last.
