No, it would say "men" if it were.

maybe it's being more subtle than usual?

Status: My new Motorola Photon Q, which I ordered to replace the one I smashed in January, has finally arrived! Now the limiting factor on my mobile experience is Discourse itself again!

Status: watched "bad ass" yesternight. Still can't decide whether it was supposed to be a comedy or not.

Better to stay here and be yelled at by @theUnmentionable

Status: the thing that takes longest after building a new PC is installing all my Skyrim mods and getting them all sorted.
The irony is after spending an hour on this I don't even feel like playing it. Haha.

Status: at my parents' house, where my cat lives. Spent the afternoon doing something I really enjoy with my dad. My mum made my favourite meal for dinner.
:)

That's one hell of a misspelling of the word 'happy' ;)

Status: Looking up the closest place where I can take my laptop on it's warranty. The display cable seems to be pretty much done for, even slight movements cause it to flicker and / or mess up colours.
Might as well get them to replace that left speaker while I'm at it. It's been acting up for ages but I didn't care enough to take it to the shop.

Status: made some pulled pork in the crock pot and now wondering what else I should make in the left over liquids. Maybe potatoes, onions, and some peppers to go with.

Status: A dog in an apartment down the hall has been barking continuously for over two damn hours now...
EDIT: Actually it might be two different dogs in two different apartments barking at each other...

hmm.... well then.... that bug is back....
guess that means the server is working faster with the switch?

To be fair, it's probably more I've been quite a busy little hedgy over there today ;)

But I ...
I posted evidence of that in \t\1000 hours ago!

Status: Drove 80 miles to work in order to crank up some loud music in a distractionless environment so I can get caught up.
Once I got there, my laptop decided I didn't have a hard drive anymore.
Image redacted because MAC addresses.
God knows how long it has been failing for because some numbnuts turned SMART off.

Status: preparing for an exam on Linux management. Very simple stuff: filesystem hierarchy, how to add users, how to create partitions, etc. But I get stuck on every paragraph thinking about how ugly those commands are and how much better I could have designed it. Ugh.

I had noticed...
I will see what i can do.
Status: rum cake batter contains rum.... Wooo! A lot of rum... Maybe licking the bowl was a bad idea....

Oh. The hard drive carrier screw fell out and the SATA connections weren't seated.
Just put in a helpdesk ticket that amounts to "get Dell to warranty replace a screw before y'all have my boss screaming at you to hurry up and build me a new hard drive" (we have no image because our IT folk are fucking lazy and it's 3 days of staring at installers to set up a new PC).

That's what she said.

Anybody have a GTX 970 who can run a round in World of Tanks and give me a baseline FPS with settings at MAXIMUM (with no anti-aliasing)?
I feel like I should be getting better performance than I am...
-
I have a GTX 780 and I get about this many FPS:
-
Any non-idiots wanna help me out?
-
Doesn't look like it.
-
I've got a 580, so I don't think downloading and installing world of tanks will help you any... I need to build a better box at some point.
-
I don't have World of Tanks. Do have a 970. Any other games to try?
Why no AA?
-
I just wanna know what FPS I can expect. If you test with AA I can turn it on and also test.
The reason I said World of Tanks is: 1) it's relatively high-demand, 2) it's free-to-play, 3) it's the only game I have installed that's both demanding and not modded to shit
-
So I randomly started watching World of Tanks on Twitch because it was on. Someone just lost a game (and a match) because of this mechanic:
Once capture is complete, the round does not end immediately. There is a delay of at least 5 seconds before victory is yours (unless the battle timer runs out earlier). According to Overlord this delay gets extended each time a vehicle is destroyed. The following outcomes are possible:
All friendly vehicles are destroyed within the delay: Enemy team wins.
All vehicles of both teams are destroyed within the delay: Draw
Enemy completes base capture of their own within the delay: Draw.
All other cases: Your team wins.Literally that makes no sense. You capture the objective but you lose because the game doesn't end immediately and there's no indication of that on the UI.
-
Yah, they're doing some $50,000 tourney right now or something.
A bigger problem with that rule is how many draws it leads to. (Not a ton, but you still see them pretty often.)
The 5-second thing I don't mind.

You're using Chrome, right?

You're using Chrome, right?
Nope, FF

Oops, that was supposed to be a reply
-

Hmm. Alright then, I might give that a go later, and report back....
I've always worked on the assumption that Chrome gets the most attention and is thus in the "zone of adequacy" when it comes to Discodevelopment...
-
Only bugs I've noticed so far:
- After loading new posts, the page scrolls up a few pixels.
- After posting a reply, the screen goes white for about a second.
Other than that, it seems to work OK.
-
And now the dogs have started up again. Please excuse me, I need to go research dog-killing gas...

Imagine one of these, but with everything between the neck and the base of the tail replaced with a human body.

There are three of them walking around near my fortress: A 3'5" female and two 2'10" males. No combat, no interrupted dwarves. Just casually walking around and looking at things.

Status: A good weekend, as I've made some decent progress on my compiler project. Almost ready to tackle true string operations, which is where shit gets
realpointer-valued.

Status: starting to like this "colour the tab based on favicon" thing on Vivaldi. But only due to Discourse:
Yes, ok, it's very limited use, I have to actually be on the TDWTF tab for it to work but hey...
You can turn it off btw.
Filed under: Man, gif preview goes crazy in the preview pane while you type..., Also, Discourse fucked up my gif, that last frame is not broken on my local copy!

Is that Janeway and Paris?

Damn it! Time to reach for the brain bleach, again!
Is that Janeway and Paris?
The right one is obviously Janeway. See how smug it looks?

Status: It's 6:30 PM, I haven't eaten in 24 hours, and I'm finally not busy. About to commit crimes against humanity on this 12" pizza from Hy-Vee, which I had to open with the tip of a 7mm Remington Magnum cartridge I found on my kitchen table because I seemingly misplaced my pocketknife and my collection of kitchen cutlery is bachelor-sized.

I have a GTX 460 that ran World of Tanks relatively well at high settings, though it's been 2 - 3 years since I've actually played it.
