I think that was mainly with the Cybermen, because they're heavy,and...also spring-loaded? Whatever, the new Cybermen are actually pretty lame, except when they serve as comic foils. "You would kill us with 4 Daleks?" "We would kill you with ONE Dalek!"
The old show, again, was far superior. For all their non-emotionalism, several times the Doctor got under their goats and pissed one or another off.

They did it with Cybermen, they did it with those brainwashed humans in 1930s New York, they did it with the Ood I believe. Possibly those fish aliens from Doctor's Daughter, but I don't remember clearly. It was fucking ridiculous, and once you noticed it, you noticed it was ALL OVER.
I mean maybe it wasn't an intended emotional point, they just had a really shitty guy doing the foley for those episodes. But still.
